Overview

The 8k/WFI control software consists of a pair of programs, called detcom and director which were developed by Sidik Isani. The software has been supplemented by some additional programs in order to control the filter wheel and shutter of the Wide Field Imager (WFI) and to provide telescope control and telescope information.

Detcom and director are documented elsewhere (at http://software.cfht.hawaii.edu/de tcom/). This document will not attempt to duplicate that material. This document is not a tutorial. Instead, it will give a brief description of the commands that are most useful to the normal observer, with more detailed descriptions of commands that are specific to 8k/WFI at the UH 2.2m Telescope. It also provides brief answers to some frequently asked questions.
